Left: Note the small bump on the mid-lower eyelid margin. A careful biopsy by Dr. Enzer revealed a skin cancer, vasal cell carcinoma. Although slow growing and virtually no risk for metastasis, this cancer can be very destructive, especially for the delicate eyelid margin.
Middle: The patient elected to have the cancer removed with MOHS surgery, which is known for conserving the most normal tissue and highest cure rate. Note that about 20% of the lower lid margin was removed, necessitating a complex reconstruction to preserve eye health and aesthetics.
Right: Three months after plastic surgery for the right lower lid with an excellent three dimensional reconstruction result.
