Deoxycholic Acid

Kybella is a product that consists of synthetic deoxycholic acid. This chemical compound appears in its natural form in the human body. Natural deoxycholic acid works to help the system break down dietary fats from food, and the synthetic version works similarly. Kybella’s synthetic deoxycholic acid breaks down the walls of fat cells. As a result, the fat melts away where the product is injected.

The Injection Procedure

Kybella injections are comfortably administered with the help of iced compresses during and after treatment. The treatments are usually performed in less than 30 minutes in the private, serene setting of cosmetic surgeon Dr. Yoash Enzer’s office.

Injections of Kybella are precisely administered in a grid pattern under the chin. Up to six treatment sessions may be needed in order to achieve the desired reduction of the area. At least a two-month waiting period is recommended between treatment sessions.

What to Expect After Kybella Treatment

Once your Kybella treatment has been completed, you will be able to return to your everyday activities in an average of one to four days. This is in sharp contrast to liposuction and other surgical procedures that typically require several weeks for recovery.

It is important to be aware that a degree of bruising and/or swelling is normal and will resolve in a short time.

Following treatment, the fat cells are naturally flushed out of your system and you will begin to notice a reduction in the volume of your neck, chin, and jawline. Patients typically see improvement even after only one treatment.
