Introduction to Vascular Laser & Sclerotherapy

Visible redness, broken capillaries, and spider veins can become more noticeable over time and are often difficult to improve with skincare products alone. At Enzer & Associates, PC, Dr. Yoash Enzer offers advanced vascular laser treatments and sclerotherapy to help reduce unwanted vessels and improve overall skin clarity.

Using advanced vascular laser technology and a personalized treatment approach, Dr. Enzer carefully evaluates the size, depth, and location of visible vessels to determine the most effective treatment plan.

What is Vascular Laser & Sclerotherapy?

Vascular laser treatment and sclerotherapy are non-surgical procedures designed to reduce the appearance of visible blood vessels, redness, and spider veins. While both treatments address vascular concerns, they work differently and are used for different types of veins.

Vascular lasers, including the Candela Vbeam® laser used by Dr. Enzer, deliver concentrated pulses of light that selectively target red pigment within superficial blood vessels. The treated vessels gradually collapse and are naturally reabsorbed by the body, helping reduce facial redness, broken capillaries, rosacea, vascular birthmarks, and small spider veins without damaging the surrounding skin.

Sclerotherapy is most commonly used for larger spider veins on the legs. During treatment, a specialized solution is injected directly into the targeted vein, causing it to collapse and gradually fade from visibility over time. Blood flow is naturally redirected to healthier surrounding veins as the treated vessel is absorbed by the body.

Both treatments are performed in the office and can significantly improve skin clarity and overall cosmetic appearance with minimal downtime.

How Do I Choose Between Vascular Laser Treatment and Sclerotherapy?

The best treatment depends on the size, depth, and location of the visible vessels. Vascular laser treatment is often best for smaller superficial vessels, facial redness, rosacea, and broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks. Sclerotherapy is typically more effective for larger spider veins on the legs that are deeper beneath the skin. During your consultation, Dr. Enzer will determine which treatment approach is best suited for your concerns.

  • Non-surgical treatment options: Both procedures are performed in the office with minimal downtime.

During your consultation in Providence, Dr. Enzer will evaluate your vascular concerns, skin tone, and goals to determine whether vascular laser treatment, sclerotherapy, or a combination approach is most appropriate.

How to Begin Your Vascular Laser & Sclerotherapy Journey

The first step is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Yoash Enzer at Enzer & Associates in Providence, RI.

During your appointment, Dr. Enzer will evaluate the size, depth, and location of the visible vessels to determine whether vascular laser treatment, sclerotherapy, or a combination approach is most appropriate.

In general, vascular lasers are better suited for smaller facial vessels and redness, while sclerotherapy is often more effective for larger leg veins.

Your consultation is also an opportunity to review your medical history, discuss previous treatments, and talk through your aesthetic goals and expectations.

Once your treatment plan is finalized, our team will provide detailed preparation instructions and explain what to expect throughout the treatment process.

What to Expect on the Day of Vascular Laser & Sclerotherapy Treatment

Both vascular laser treatment and sclerotherapy are performed in the office with minimal downtime.

  • For vascular laser treatment, the skin is cleansed, and protective eyewear is provided. The laser delivers controlled pulses of energy to targeted vessels, which many patients describe as feeling similar to a quick snap against the skin. Treatment sessions are typically brief, depending on the size of the treatment area.
  • During sclerotherapy, a specialized solution is carefully injected into the unwanted veins using a very small needle. The treated vessels gradually collapse and fade as the body absorbs them over time.

Most patients return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, although temporary redness, swelling, or mild bruising may occur during the healing process.

Combining My Vascular Laser & Sclerotherapy with Other Procedures

Many Providence patients combine vascular treatments with other non-surgical procedures to improve overall skin tone and texture and achieve facial rejuvenation.

Injectable Treatments

Neuromodulators and facial fillers can complement vascular treatments by softening facial lines, restoring youthful facial balance, and improving skin clarity.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing treatments may be combined with vascular correction to improve both unwanted redness and surface-level texture concerns such as fine lines, uneven pigmentation, and sun damage.

Medical-Grade Skincare

Professional skincare products may help support and maintain results after vascular treatment by improving skin health, minimizing irritation, and protecting against future sun damage.

Vascular Laser & Sclerotherapy Recovery

Recovery following vascular laser treatment or sclerotherapy is generally straightforward and well-tolerated.

  • After vascular laser treatment, temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity may occur for several days. Some treated vessels may temporarily darken before fading.
  • Following sclerotherapy, mild bruising, tenderness, or swelling can occur around the treated veins. Compression garments may be recommended for leg treatments.

While some improvement is often visible within a few weeks, results continue improving as the body gradually absorbs the treated vessels. Multiple sessions may be recommended for optimal correction.
