Photo 1: This middle aged patient has a small skin cancer of the left lower eyelid, proven by biopsy.

Photo 2: After reviewing all the treatment options with Dr. Enzer, the patient elected to proceed with MOHS surgery for the cancer removal. This is performed by a dermatologist with specialized training, and then the patient comes to Dr. Enzer’s surgery center for plastic surgery. In this case, she ended up loosing about half of the left lower eyelid skin. Repairs in this area are fraught with eyelid malposition complications. Because so much skin was removed, a skin graft taken from behind the ear, which is the next best match to using eyelid skin (she didn’t have enough extra eyelid skin to use in this situation).
