Photo 1: This woman has a skin cancer of her scalp. Note the scaling lesion at the part, about one inch above the hairline.

Photo 2: The skin cancer was removed with MOHS surgery. This resulted in a large defect. The scalp can be very difficult to close. There is a high tendency for hair loss.

Photo 3: Three months after plastic surgery to close the defect. The scalp was loosened to mobilize skin flaps. These were advanced together and sewn closed in multiple layers to take any tension off the surface skin. Note she is already getting hair follicle regrowth, though it make take a year.
