There are several methods of removing lipomas, which are benign fatty tumors. Fortunately they are rare on the face. This patient’s lipoma was in the middle of his forehead, creating a very noticeable lump. The treatment options that were discussed with the patient included observation, surgical excision (with a resulting scar), or liposuction. The patient elected liposuction. Dr. Enzer cautioned him about the controversy in the medical literature regarding liposuction and the risk of malignant transformation, albeit rare. The results of the procedure are seen in the photos, and the patient was very happy.
