Procedure Information
Description: Category: Removal of Skin Growths
Before (Left): This patient had a mole growing on the tip of the nose. It had been present for many years without change and was thought to be benign by the dermatologist. Although the patient wanted it removed, the doctors thought it was too risky in terms of leaving a scar or indentation that could look worse than the mole.
After (Right): This photo was taken three months after removing the mole. Dr. Enzer recommended removing it with his radiofrequency ablation procedure. With this technique the portion of the mole above the skin is evaporated. By not going below the skin surface, the risk of creating a scar is minimized. In some cases there will be residual pigment (color). While regrowth is possible because the base of the mole is still in the skin, typically this is less than 5%. Both the patient and Dr. Enzer were thrilled with the results.
