Thyroid Eye Disease & Graves' Disease
Description: Notes: Three months after orbital decompression (left eye); six months after decompression (right eye). This gentleman developed a severe case of Graves’ and Thyroid Eye Disease (TED).  As you can see from the photos, there was a dramatic disfigurement to the normal shape of his eyes, causing discomfort, tearing, trouble with his vision, and embarrassment about his appearance. In order to help, he underwent bilateral orbital decompression with bony rim advancement and intraconal fat removal as the first stage in his rehabilitation. Notice the eyes no longer bulge. He is now ready for surgery to raise the right upper lid, lower the left upper lid, and raise both lower eyelids.
