Forehead Lifts, Eyelid Lifts and Blepharoplasty

The eyes are the first thing a person sees when looking at another, thus giving “the first impression.” First impressions can mean the difference between a friendly encounter or none at all. Heavy lids, low set brows, or bags under the eyes may give a false sense of aging or fatigue. As an Oculofacial Surgeon, no one is more qualified to handle these types of problems than Dr. Enzer.

Procedures to address these problems are usually performed as a same-day outpatient surgery. The laser may be used to minimize bruising or swelling. A variety of brow and forehead lifting techniques are available, including the newest endoscopic (small incision) procedure. Dr. Enzer helped pioneer the new minimally-invasive endoscopic forehead lift procedure and developed the technique to where it is today. In addition he has taught his technique to hundreds of other doctors, both nationally and internationally.

The upper lid and lower lid surgery is called blepharoplasty. In the lower lids, the incision is usually made on the inside to avoid any visible scar or change in eyelid shape. Dr. Enzer brought this new minimally invasive technology to Rhode Island and the New England area in 1990, and now it has become the standard approach to the lower eyelid.

Finally, mid-face lifting, performed through micro-incisions near the eyes, will raise the cheek fat pad (eliminates bags under the eyes). This smoothes the transition zone between the eyes and cheek and often will alleviate folds around the cheek and mouth. Mid-face lifting is still a relatively new addition to the face-lifting family, having only truly begun around the year 2000. Dr. Enzer has, in a few short years, developed the multi-layered multi-vectored suspender flap, the safest and most successful means of mid-face lifting. He was invited to present his technique before a thousand plastic surgeons in Chicago, October 2005.
